So the day of the Press conference begins and we are told that due to production delays Alex will not make it on time to come to the Con, you can also see his tweet from his Twitter account (@TheAlexMeraz Sorry to all the fans who were expecting to see me at the Germany RingCon convention this weekend. Got held up with filming. ), Alex is not the only one that due to filming will not being able to come, also Tom Felton ( Harry Potter’s Draco Malfoy) had to cancel his participation, but he did a short greeting video that will be shown to the fans at the HP panel.

There are several sites at the press conference, but it seems that I’m the only one not German…sooo this means that all the introduction is in German : ( mmmh , first problem…I don’t speak German…but ok, neither do the actors. So when it’s time for them to come in, they begin speaking English..luckily. It’s here that I come to meet for the first time Kyle Schmid , main actor of Blood Ties, where he plays Henry Fitzroy, a Vampire a successful Canadian crime series of 2006 that has incredibly been halted at its 22nd episode, pitiably it has been shown in Italy only on a pay tv and for a short time. Apart from being gorgeous, he is very nice to everybody and keeps laughing and making jokes on vampires during the whole press con, as he tells he really is a vampire only that he does not sparkle.

Lord of the Ring actors are present as well, Craig Parker (Elve Haldir), Mark Ferguson (Elve Gil-Galad) and others, they too make jokes about vampires as when the Twilight actors arrive all the questions turn to be about vampires either it be Vegetarian one as in Twilight or normal ones as in Blood Ties. Lori Dungey ( Hobbit Mrs Bracegirdle in LOTR) is asked what she thinks about vegetarian vampires, and she explains that though she has not read the books, she has seen the movie and * laughing* says that she absolutely pro to Vegetarian Vampires. She says “Go vegetarian vampire, go woot woot”, well she says”If I would meet one, I would for sure prefer a vegetarian one rather than a normal one.” * laughs* . Craig Parker jokes saying that if we were confronted with a vampire before, you could at least use sunlight to defy them. Now, if you throw a curtain open, they don’t turn to dust but sparkle, so that’s not fair he says smiling.

For Twilight, Edi Gathegi and Christian Serratos participate the Press conference. All actors were asked why they think everybody is after this vampire and fantasy world, and how or if this kind of fame has changed their life, what do they think of participating to that kind of Cons. Most of them answer that it is mainly about escaping realities, and everybody has his ideas of being more than what we really are. Vampires are superfast and stronger, there is something sexy about that power.

Kyle Schmid was asked where he took his inspiration for his Vampire character from and if he doing a vampire changed his business and private life.He answered that there is so much history behind vampires; he took inspiration mainly from his grandfather, he says he is grateful to the fans.

Edi says that’s amazing that Twilighters are the best fans ever; they are passionate. Everybody who has read the books has got in love with that series, and without it they wouldn’t have had the chance to go to Germany. Christian says that apart from the fans and traveling, her life hasn’t changed that much; she continues to see and go out with the same people.

Christian is asked what she likes about her character, and she really likes everything about her, she changes a lot from new Moon to Eclipse from being shy to being a strong independent woman, and if her character is happy, she is happy.,She also informs us that she has always loved vampire movies and used to have vampire movies session at her mother’s house, while Edi tells us that he wasn’t used to watch this kind of movies or books, he was more on the Superman, Wolverine kind of guy. This is more a romance story though; the vampires are in the backdrop, that’s what has drawn him to the books, and when he read them, he fell in love exactly like all the other fans, so that he became a vampire.

Edi tells us as well that, while in Twilight he is a traditional vampire (that meets the Cullens who have this different kind of living, that are in some kind of way more evolved and have gone “vegetarian”) that gets curious facing this new way of life, in New Moon he has gone to Alaska, he has fallen in love, he has tried vegetarianism, but found out that this is not for him. So when he comes back, he is not curious or conflicted between the two lifestyles anymore, he is just hungry and when he meets Bella, he just wants to eat her.

All the actors joke about vampire and elves; Marc Fergusson (Gil Galad in the Lord of the Ring) says that on the internet you can find any kind of questions and once he found one that was “Who would win a fight between Kellan and Legolas, this would be the Ultimate Smack down”.

Edi was asked if he liked German food: he answered that it is not as good as people, but it is tasty, he already learned how to say good morning in German, and after a few times he got it right. If Christian was trapped on a lonely island without any food, she would eat Kellan first: “He has the most meat on him!” Edi in the same situation would finish what he started in New Moon and eat Kristen.

So, after all, the actors were very relaxed and open for all kind of questions. When they were not at the panels or at the Press Conference, you could find them walking around between the fans and participants of the RingCon, without fear, without bodyguards, just being themselves. Nobody bothered them, no paparazzy, just people among others, enjoying a short talk if they want to have such.

Perhaps this is why they enjoy to visit such conventions and meeting their fans – they can simply be what they are.
